Andrew Odell, Chief Legal & Administrative Officer

BIO

Andrew Odell is the Chief Legal and Administrative Officer for the W. M. Keck Observatory, where he oversees Observatory-wide strategic initiatives, risk management, export controls, procurement, organization administration, Environmental Health and Safety and Computer Systems administration.

Prior to joining the Observatory in 2016, Andrew held a variety of legal-related positions in the State of Hawai‘i, including Associate Attorney for Carlsmith Ball LLP in Kailua-Kona and Cades Schutte LLP in Honolulu. He served as a Legislative Intern for Senator Gary Hooser, Majority Leader for Hawai‘i State Senate, and as a Judicial Extern for Judge J. Michael Seabright in the United States District Court for the District of Hawai‘i.

Andrew earned his J.D. from the University of Hawai‘i, William S. Richardson School of Law, and a B.A. in General Engineering from Johns Hopkins University. An engaged community and educational advocate, Andrew currently serves as the President of the Board of Trustees for Waimea Country School and is a member on the Local Advisory Panel for Waimea Middle School where he also volunteers as a student mentor. Additionally, he provides pro bono legal services as a volunteer attorney for Legal Services Hawai‘i.
